Thanks to everyone who attended yesterday’s apiary training session at Scolton. I think it was one of our busiest in what we did and I learned a lot, hope everyone who attended did too.
Particular thanks to Pete and John as trainers, but everyone got really involved, it was great to see. In addition to the usual inspections, we- combined two weaker hives with two swarms (after hiving the swarms from nucs), marked and clipped a queen, made two splits using queen cells we found, checked supers for honey and moved super frames around to make up three full supers to clear and remove later this week, and spent a deal of time considering what the combination of queens, queen cells and eggs sometimes all in the same hive (sometimes not) meant???…A busy afternoon; lots of fun.
Hope to see you all there again in two weeks time,
Cheers, David
