Next beginners’ beekeeping session – this Sunday!

The next Beginners’ Session will be at The Rhos Apiary, at 2pm on this coming Sunday 6th September.

Please bring your own beesuits, gloves and wellies [we do have spare beesuits for those without]….. as well as a face mask.

Beginners’ training sessions to restart!

It has been immensely frustrating for the Association and those new to beekeeping, not to be able to have the fortnightly training sessions at the training apiary at The Rhos due to Covid 19.

We now consider it safe to re open the sessions, with sensible social distancing in place, for those members new to beekeeping and who would benefit from some practical advice and guidance.

On that basis, the next Beginners’ Session will be at The Rhos Apiary, at 2pm on this coming Sunday 26th July.

Please bring your own beesuits, gloves and wellies [we do have spare beesuits for those without] as well as a face mask.

The weather forecast is for showers, so it may not be possible to undertake practical inspections, in which case we will have a Q&A session in the barn.

Apiary Meeting changes!

Will PBKA members please note the following apiary meeting changes:

This Sunday’s 4th August, ‘Improvers’ meeting at Scolton, is cancelled, as there will be a honey extracting demonstration to coincide with the ‘Paws in the Park’ event. The next meeting will be on Sunday 18th August at 2pm.

Regarding the ‘Beginner’ sessions
at the Rhos Apiary. The meeting scheduled for Sunday 11th August has been cancelled but for those members who have attended at any time during this year only, we will be doing an ‘introduction to honey extraction’ demonstration at Picton Home Farm, The Rhos this coming Sunday 4th August at 2pm, covering clearing supers of bees, uncapping, extracting, storing and bottling. We will also look at getting the best from your wax.
The venue will be signposted but it is simply into the village, turn up towards Picton Castle and its the farm drive a couple of hundred yards on your right with Picton Home Farm sign in the grass [NOT the Picton Home Farm Barns turning].
