Following a recent PBKA Committee meeting, this is to advise all PBKA members of some changes re the ‘officer’ roles within the Association, both Committee and non-Committee members.

Linda Jones is now the Acting ‘YLAH (Yellow Legged Asian Hornet) Coordinator’ for the PBKA. I would like to thank the previous post-holders Peter Kirkup and Ali Hollingbery, for their previous work in that role. I am sure you will all give Linda your full support and cooperation. Linda is currently writing a YLAH Strategy for the PBKA, which will be published for all members to see in due course.

Linda is a Committee member and also the association’s ‘Training and Education Officer’, so will be handling both roles for the time being.

As ‘Training and Education Officer’, Linda is responsible for designing and coordinating all training with the PBKA. Please note therefore, that despite any rumours you may have heard to the contrary, all matters relating to training, whether in the classroom or practical training in the PBKA Training Apiary at Scolton, will be managed by Linda.

I am sure that regular visitors to the Training Apiary will be pleased to hear that Pete Hobbs, has now been promoted to ‘Assistant Apiary Manager’ by the Committee, in recognition of his excellent work supporting the Apiary Manager this season. As the Apiary Manager for over 15 years myself without an assistant, I am quite envious! Pete is a great asset to the association and we hope he continues with this good work for many years to come! Well done Pete!!
