The Tivyside Beekeepers Association is very pleased to have Celia Davis presenting:

‘The Challenges of Beekeeping – Overcoming the problems facing beekeepers’

For 11 years Celia was Secretary to the Warwickshire Beekeepers’ Association and then took over as President. In 1997 the editor of Bee Craft asked her to write articles for the magazine, a job that lasted for 10 years. She now spends a great deal of time talking to various groups as well as many beekeeping organisations and conventions all over the country.

This will take place on Sunday 29 March at 2 p.m. in Coed y Bryn Village Hall (SA44 5LQ)

‘What Future for Local Bees in Britain’

Our neighbouring beekeeping association, the Tivyside Beekeepers Association (TBKA) is very pleased to host a talk by Norman Carreck, who will be presenting ‘What Future for Local Bees in Britain’ and on his research work at Sussex University.

Norman has lectured about bees on all continents where bees are kept and has written many scientific papers, contributed to books, conferences and articles. He has edited several books and regularly appears in the media providing comment on honey bees.

As well as carrying out bee research at the University of Sussex, Norman is the Science Director of the International Bee Research Association and Senior Editor of the Journal of Apicultural Research.

This will take place on Sunday 1 March at 2 p.m. in Coed y Bryn Village Hall (SA44 5LQ)

Beekeeping Talk at the Small World Theatre, Cardigan on Sunday 22nd February

Paul Eades, Apiary Manager for Pembrokeshire Beekeepers’ Association, will be giving a talk about the ‘Pembrokeshire Beekeeping Centre’ on Sunday 22nd February, at the Small World Theatre in Cardigan.

The talk will then be followed by a ‘Beekeepers Question Time’ featuring Ceri Morgan, former Bee Inspector and proprietor of Mel Bae Ceredigion, Irma Richardson of the Teifiside Beekeepers Association and Robert Jones a local beekeeper with 30 years‘ experience of breeding native bees.  

Tickets are £3.00 and the event starts at 10.30am.

Introductory Beekeeping Course – Saturday 28th February

A one-day classroom based course for the complete beginner is scheduled for Saturday 28th February 2015 at the Picton Centre, Haverfordwest.

These courses have been very popular and given many potential beekeepers the confidence to proceed to practical lessons with Pembrokeshire Beekeepers’ Association.

Places are limited and invariably fill up quickly, so booking early is strongly recommended!
