Improvers Course 2011

Dee Williams is once again offering a course for improvers commencing at 2.00 pm on Saturday 14th May for five weeks at Woodreef Honey Farm, Amroth.

This is a practical hands on course aimed at maximising the honey crop for those with their own bees and who have completed a basic course.

Dee has kept bees commercially for 20 years and holds the intermediate certificate in beekeeping.

Course Cost £100.  To book or make further enquiries contact Dee on 01994 453571.

More than just an auction …

Saturday April 30th is the date of the PBKA Auction in the Brithdir Hall at Withbush Showground by kind permission of Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society.

Whether you are buying or not, come along and meet other beekeepers.   This year we will have an information stand where you can come along and discuss beekeeping with experienced beekeepers.  The committee and volunteers will be wearing badges to help you identify them for a chat.

Viewing starts at 11.00 am and the auction starts at 2.00 pm.  Light refreshments are available throughout the day.

Harmless Plastic Excluders – Important Message from Thornes

This message has been received from Gill Smith at Thornes

IMPORTANT NOTICE

It has come to our attention that some of our Harmless Plastic Excluders purchased in the last six months may be faulty. A percentage of them have slots which are very slightly smaller than the recommended size and bees may become stuck.

Please check your hives which are fitted with these excluders and, if there is any problem, please contact us. We will immediately replace with the Natural plastic excluder.
