New Training Apiary Completed / Gwenynfa Hyfforddi Newydd wedi’i Chwblhau

We are delighted to report that the new training apiary is ready for use and we hope to start training sessions, (to include both beginners and improvers), on Sunday 8th May,  further details to follow in due course!

Many thanks to PBKA member Anthony Jenner, for his invaluable assistance in moving the hives to their new home and for the use of his trailer, it was very much appreciated.

So pencil in Sunday 8th May into your diary and look out for further updates!

Foraging is essential for honey bees and provides their food supplies of nectar and pollen. Forage sources for honey bees are an important consideration for beekeepers, especially when siting apiaries. This talk looks at the nutritional needs of bees, colony requirements and important sources of forage, as well as looking at the bees’ foraging strategies.

Lynne has kept bees for over 30 years, and runs 25 – 30 colonies in Somerset. She is a Master Beekeeper, has recently gained the National Diploma in Beekeeping, (NDB), and is an examiner for the modules and practical assessments. Lynne is heavily involved in educating beekeepers in Somerset, now running study groups via Zoom, and curating the popular Somerset Lockdown Lecture series.
