Would PBKA members please note that there will be no apiary meeting at Scolton on Sunday 5th August, due to the ‘Paws in the Park’ event and we will be hosting a honey extracting demonstration instead. The next meeting will be on Sunday 19th August.
PBKA Apiary
Season’s First Apiary Meetings
Would PBKA members please note that the first apiary meetings are this coming Sunday 15th April, commencing at 2pm. The ‘Beginner’s Meeting’, is at the new training apiary and not Kethin’s Farm as previously, (contact the Chairman Jeremy Percy, for details) and the ‘Improver’s Meeting’, is at the Pembrokeshire Beekeeping Centre, at Scolton Manor. We look forward to seeing you!
Good news!
Following our recent post about the loss of the beginners’ training apiary at Kethins, we are pleased to report that a potential new site has now been found. Many thanks to all of you who kindly made suggestions or offered accomodation and we will post further details on this and the next working party soon!
New Apiary required – urgently!
As members will know, the Beginners training has been carried out at Kethins Farm, Haverfordwest for many years. Unfortunately, the owner has decided to renovate the farm buildings to be more commercial in nature and has asked the PBKA to vacate the place as soon as possible.
This is a big blow and we now need to quickly identify an alternative location to carry on this valuable service for new members.
The basic requirement is for sufficient and suitable space for a dozen hives, enough parking for a dozen or so cars and preferably a shed or outbuilding for storage of equipment and for somewhere to sit and discuss all things bee related.
If any member has, or knows, of a potentially suitable site then please give the Chairman, Jerry Percy a ring on 01437 751357.
